Fast Facts

Project # U-5870
Type: Road widening
Affected Counties: Pitt
Estimated Cost: $42,414,000

Description

As part of an overall effort to enhance east-west travel and safety along the nearly three-mile section of Fire Tower Road and Portertown Road from NC 43 to NC 33, the North Carolina Department of Transportation will widen a 2.2-mile stretch of Fire Tower Road and Portertown Road from 14th Street to East 10th Street in Greenville.

The road will be widened from two lanes to four lanes and will include a raised median, bicycle lanes, and sidewalks.

Fire Tower Road currently experiences significant congestion with a higher likelihood for accidents. Widening this stretch of Fire Tower Road and Portertown Road is an effort to help improve traffic flow, minimize crashes, and foster better connectivity in the area and accommodate pedestrians and bicyclists.

Property Takings

It is estimated that approximately 160 parcels of property will be impacted by this project. Currently, the NCDOT has set aside $12,616,000 for right-of-way takings. If your property will be affected, contact one of our attorneys (four of whom previously worked on behalf of the NCDOT) for a free case evaluation.

There are only a handful of attorneys in NC who practice eminent domain exclusively, and even fewer with NCDOT experience. We have several. That’s why its worth getting in touch with us for a free case evaluation.

Here’s how it works:

1) Tell us about your situation.

2) We research your property as needed, using DOT maps, our own technology, and experience to see the exact effects.

3) We let you know what we think a fair offer would be. This evaluation is free, and there’s no
pressure or obligation to hire us after.

But please don’t wait to act. Waiting can hurt your case, and the cost is the same: free.
