I-26 Interchange Improvement

Fast Facts

Project # I-5504
Type: Interchange improvements
Affected Counties: Buncombe
Estimated Cost: $52,690,000

Description

The NCDOT plans to widen and make other roadway improvements to a 1.2-mile section of I-26 ending just short of Pond Road and a 0.7-mile section of NC 191 (Brevard Road) at the I-26/NC 191 Interchange in Asheville.

This project is part of a larger overhaul of I-26. The purpose is to alleviate growing congestion at the interchange by increasing efficiency and addressing lengthy backups along the I-26 exit ramps. The project will re-route traffic traveling northbound to a new on and off-ramp.  Additionally, traffic on Rocky Ridge Road will be routed through a portion of Wedgefield Dr. before its new intersection with NC 191 (Brevard Road).

Project Schedule

  • Right of way acquisition – 2016
  • Start construction – 2017

There are only a handful of attorneys in NC who practice eminent domain exclusively, and even fewer with NCDOT experience. We have several. That’s why its worth getting in touch with us for a free case evaluation.

Here’s how it works:

1) Tell us about your situation.

2) We research your property as needed, using DOT maps, our own technology, and experience to see the exact effects.

3) We let you know what we think a fair offer would be. This evaluation is free, and there’s no
pressure or obligation to hire us after.

But please don’t wait to act. Waiting can hurt your case, and the cost is the same: free.
