Description

The N.C. Department of Transportation (NCDOT) proposes improvements at Exit 75 at I-95/Jonesboro Road (SR 1808), and Exit 77 at I-95/Hodges Chapel Road (SR 1709).

These improvements are part of the broader I-95 and US 70 updates. The purpose of the construction is to improve safety, traffic flow, and repair the quality of the roads. Interchanges between Exit 70 and Exit 77 were built in the 1960s and are outdated and need to be brought into compliance with today’s safety standards to accommodate an eventual eight-lane I-95.

Improvements will have longer on and off ramps, and taller, longer overpasses big enough to cross I-95 when this stretch is widened to eight lanes in 2026.

While many residents anticipated this construction, some have expressed concerns about the impact these changes could have on the community, including homes and businesses.
