Murchison Road Project
Project # U-4444B
Type: Roadway Improvement
Affected Counties: Cumberland
Estimated Cost: $8.4 million
The U-4444B project consists of the section of Murchison Road (NC 210) and Bragg Boulevard (NC 24/87) that stretches from Fort Bragg Boundary to North of NC 24/87/210 in Spring Lake, North Carolina. The projects are broken down into two sections (A and B) and involve widening the road to six lanes.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) states the Murchison Road Project will improve safety while accommodating existing and proposed roadway projects throughout Spring Lake. According to the Fayetteville Area Metropolitan Planning Organization newsletter, the project originally had a negative impact by making it harder for vehicles and pedestrians to cross Bragg Boulevard. An alternative solution was considered by the NCDOT that will link the Main Street side of Spring Lake with the East side of town.
