NC 55 Road Widening

Fast Facts

NCDOT TIP #R-5705
Project Type:
Road widening
Affected Counties:
Harnett/Wake
Estimated Cost: $50,618,000

Description

The NCDOT plans to widen to four lanes a section of NC 55 Highway in Harnett and Wake Counties. The expansion will begin with a 2.4-mile section stretching from Old Buies Creek Road (SR 1542) in Angier, to slightly north of Kennebec Church Road (SR 2791). In early 2016, additional funding allowed the state to add an additional 1.6-mile section from slightly north of Kennebec Church Road to Jicarilla Lane. The total widening effort will span four miles.

NC 55 is a major thoroughfare and primary connector for Fuquay-Varina, Angier, Coats, and Erwin, and is anticipated to be over capacity by 2035. The primary purpose of this project is to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow on NC 55 in the Angier area.

Highway widening will take place in three phases, R-5705A, R-5705B, and R-5705C, as indicated on the maps below.

There are only a handful of attorneys in NC who practice eminent domain exclusively, and even fewer with NCDOT experience. We have several. That’s why its worth getting in touch with us for a free case evaluation.

Here’s how it works:

1) Tell us about your situation.

2) We research your property as needed, using DOT maps, our own technology, and experience to see the exact effects.

3) We let you know what we think a fair offer would be. This evaluation is free, and there’s no
pressure or obligation to hire us after.

But please don’t wait to act. Waiting can hurt your case, and the cost is the same: free.
