U.S. 311 Bypass
Project # U-2412A
Type: Bypass construction
Affected Counties: Guilford
Estimated Cost: $61,900,000
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is planning to build a new multilane bypass from Vickery Chapel Road in Jamestown to U.S. 311 in High Point.
Known as the Jamestown Bypass, this phase is the second part of the two-phase 7.8-mile overall widening and new construction route which ends in Greensboro. (The first phase from Jamestown to Greensboro is nearly complete.)
The purpose of the new bypass in its entirety is to allow for the projected increase in traffic in this area and make it easier and potentially safer to travel from U.S. 311 in High Point to Jamestown and Greensboro.
- Right-of-way acquisition - In progress 2017
- Start Construction - 2019
- End Construction - 2022
It is estimated that more than 110 parcels of property will be impacted by this project. Currently the NCDOT has set aside $10,000,000 for right-of-way takings.
