U.S. 401 (Raeford Road) Roadway Improvements
NCDOT TIP # U-4405A/B
Affected Counties: Cumberland
Estimated Cost: $46,840,000
The NCDOT plans roadway improvements to a 5.8-mile stretch of U.S. 401 (Raeford Road) from west of Hampton Oaks Drive to east of Fairway Drive in Fayetteville.
Improvements include road widening, and resurfacing with a raised median, and are deemed necessary to help improve traffic flow and safety.
As Fayetteville has grown, increased traffic volumes have created congestion. Moreover, access onto and from this section of U.S. 401 has become a safety and nuisance issue, as numerous driveways along the corridor hinder both mobility and traffic safety.
