Description

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) proposes to modernize US 13 from Saulston Road (SR 1572) to Rodell Barrow Road (SR 1700) in the city of Goldsboro, North Carolina.

The primary upgrades being proposed include:

Adding center turn lane
Realigning the following intersections to meet current design standards:
- US 13 and Hill Loop Road
- US 13 and True Vine Road
- US 13 and Rodell Barrow Road
Widening ditches

The proposed purpose of the project is to increase storage capacity (i.e. create more room for cars to line up without blocking intersections or through traffic) and help traffic move more efficiently and safely along this portion of US 13. NCDOT also claims that widening the corridor to allow for addition of a center turn lane and ditches will enhance vehicle safety.

Residential and commercial property owners along the project path should prepare for the NCDOT’s eventual offer and for modifications and interruptions that are likely to follow.
