Description
The NC Department of Transportation (NCDOT) plans to improve the interchange at Carthage Road (Exit 19) in Lumberton. Construction is part of the NCDOT’s plans to widen I-95 and improve the general quality of the roads, including increasing safety and alleviating traffic congestion.
Carthage Road is considered the main entry to downtown Lumberton. Upgrades to this thoroughfare involve bringing the interchange into conformance with the latest safety standards and making the necessary improvements so it can better handle traffic flow when I-95 is widened to eight lanes in 2026.
