Project Type:
 Widening & Improvements
Affected Counties:
 Onslow
Estimated Cost: $
 35,166,000

Description

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) plans to widen and improve access to a 3.3-mile stretch of NC 53 (Western Boulevard) from Exchange Drive to NC 24 (Lejeune Boulevard) in Jacksonville.

The NCDOT is working on converting the existing center turn lane to a median, constructing left-turn lanes at strategic locations, a sidewalk on the south, and a multiuse path on the north.

Western Boulevard (NC 53) represents a critical roadway link to the city of Jacksonville. Along this corridor and nearby are some of the heaviest concentrations of retail and commercial uses in the city, including the Jacksonville Mall, hospitals, and considerable residential developments. This route also serves as a major northwest/southeast commuter route for military and civilian traffic.

Operational and safety improvements, as well as aesthetic enhancements along this corridor are the primary factors driving the widening and improvements.

Property Takings

It is estimated that more than 110 parcels of property will be impacted by this project. Currently the NCDOT has set aside $2,770,000 for right-of-way takings. If your property will be affected, contact one of our attorneys (four of whom previously worked on behalf of the NCDOT) for a free case evaluation.

There are only a handful of attorneys in NC who practice eminent domain exclusively, and even fewer with NCDOT experience. We have several. That’s why its worth getting in touch with us for a free case evaluation.

Here’s how it works:

1) Tell us about your situation.

2) We research your property as needed, using DOT maps, our own technology, and experience to see the exact effects.

3) We let you know what we think a fair offer would be. This evaluation is free, and there’s no
pressure or obligation to hire us after.

But please don’t wait to act. Waiting can hurt your case, and the cost is the same: free.
