Danielle M. Orait brings significant courtroom experience and an unwavering dedication to justice in her role as an attorney at the NC Eminent Domain Law Firm. She recognizes the significant disruption that condemnation cases can cause to people’s lives and businesses, and she strives to reduce her clients’ stress and uncertainty as she seeks maximum compensation for them.
Driven by a Commitment to Justice
Raised in a small Pennsylvania town, Danielle developed a keen moral compass early in life. Her personal experience of standing up to severe bullying in schoolâand navigating the juvenile justice system largely on her ownâleft a lasting impression. With little guidance from the prosecutorâs office or police, she realized the importance of advocacy and resolved to be the kind of person who supports people when they need it most.
As the first in her family to pursue higher education, Danielle earned her bachelorâs degree in Criminal Justice, with a minor in Psychology, graduating cum laude from La Roche University. A class assignment to observe court proceedings at the Pittsburgh courthouse became a turning point for Danielle â stepping into the courtroom helped her realize that becoming an attorney could be her way to stand up for others. She went on to receive her J.D. from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Michigan.
Experience Rooted in Public Service
Danielleâs legal career is firmly grounded in public service. She served over six years as an Assistant District Attorney with the Allegheny County DAâs Office in Pittsburgh, handling thousands of cases across the General Trial, Arson, and Gang Violence Units. She prosecuted serious offensesâincluding homicides, aggravated assaults, and firearms violationsâfrom preliminary hearing to trial.
After relocating to Raleigh, North Carolina, Danielle continued her prosecutorial work as an Assistant District Attorney for Wake County. Assigned to the Drug Unit, she handled cases ranging from narcotics trafficking to embezzlement, firearm possession by felons, and homicides.
Throughout her time as a prosecutor, Danielle remained steadfast in her mission to be a dependable advocate for those facing daunting legal challenges.
Focused on Eminent Domain Law
Before entering private practice, Danielle worked as an Assistant Attorney General with the North Carolina Department of Justice. In that role, she represented the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) in all phases of eminent domain casesâfrom depositions and mediations to settlements and courtroom trials. This experience gave her insight into how the NCDOT approaches land acquisition and condemnation matters. Additionally, she participated in appellate work, representing the state before the North Carolina Court of Appeals.
âIt’s never âjust another caseâ to me.â
Now, Danielle uses that inside knowledge to advocate on behalf of property owners. Her goal is to ensure clients facing land takings are fully informed and justly compensated. She approaches each case with empathy, listening carefully to each home and business ownerâs story while bringing a strong sense of justice and integrity to the table.
Life Beyond the Courtroom
Outside of her legal work, Danielle enjoys outdoor adventures, visiting new places, and relaxing by the coast. She lives by the personal mantra: âThe meaning of life is to live.â It’s a reminder to seek gratitude and purposeâeven when life presents obstacles.
