US-220 Business Widening

Fast Facts

NCDOT TIP # U-6006
Type: Road widening
Affected Counties: Randolph
Estimated Cost: $10,380,000

Description

A delayed road widening project will begin soon on U.S. 220 Business (South Main Street) in Asheboro and Randleman. The current stretch of highway will be widened to a four-lane divided roadway extending from Caudle Road (SR 2123) to U.S. 311 Extension (SR 2270) in Randleman. Approximately 0.7 miles of roadway will be widened under the project.

Purported benefits of the project include reduced congestion and improved mobility, with a secondary benefit of reducing crashes and improving safety. While the widened roadway will have sidewalks and allow cars and bicycles to share the road, it will come at the expense of nearby landowners. More than 70 parcels of adjoining land will be subject to eminent domain taking by the NCDOT.

Is your property being targeted by the NCDOT as part of the U.S. 220 Business widening? Don’t lose your land for less than its worth. An NC eminent domain attorney can help you fight for maximum compensation.

There are only a handful of attorneys in NC who practice eminent domain exclusively, and even fewer with NCDOT experience. We have several. That’s why its worth getting in touch with us for a free case evaluation.

Here’s how it works:

1) Tell us about your situation.

2) We research your property as needed, using DOT maps, our own technology, and experience to see the exact effects.

3) We let you know what we think a fair offer would be. This evaluation is free, and there’s no
pressure or obligation to hire us after.

But please don’t wait to act. Waiting can hurt your case, and the cost is the same: free.
