Gum Branch Road Widening
Fast Facts
Project # U-4906
Type: Roadway widening
Affected Counties: Onslow
Estimated Cost: $10,643,000
Description
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is widening and making improvements to a 6.4 mile section of Gum Branch Road from Mills Fields Road just east of Richlands to Batting Cage Trail in Jacksonville. The project includes improvements to the intersections of Gum Branch Road with Ramsey Road, Mendover Drive, Rhodestown Road, NW Bridge Road, Quaker Bridge Road, and Cow Horn Road.
Currently, this corridor of Gum Branch Road is at capacity and projected to be “seriously over capacity” due in part to increasing residential development in the area, according to an NCDOT feasibility study.
