Project Type: Road widening
Affected Counties: Forsyth
Estimated Cost: $ 11,105,000
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) plans to widen Hanes Mill Road in Winston-Salem to two lanes in each direction with additional turning lanes. Widening will span a half-mile stretch from Museum Drive to University Parkway. Two lanes will be added from the furniture plant at Museum Drive to Summit Square Boulevard on the east side of University Parkway. Medians will separate the traffic flow.
The purpose of the project is to better accommodate traffic flow on both Hanes Mill Road and University Parkway.
