Fast Facts

Project # R-3825B
Type: Road Widening
Affected Counties: Johnston
Estimated Cost: $25,500,000

Description

The NCDOT plans to widen a 4.5-mile section of NC 42 from Glen Laurel Road (SR 1902) to Buffalo Road (SR 1003) in Clayton, and also replace the current bridge over the Neuse River. This project is an extension of the completed NC 42 widening from US 70/NC 42 to Glen Laurel (NCDOT TIP # R-3825A).

The current two-lane roadway will be widened to four lanes with a raised median and turn lanes at Fox Ridge Road, Castleberry Road, East School Road, Bennett Place, Neuse River Parkway, Queen Anne Drive, Neuse Colony Drive, Motorcycle Road, and Buffalo Road.

This corridor of NC 42 is being widened in an effort to ease congestion and accommodate continued growth in Clayton, which is among the fastest growing areas in Johnston County.

Property Takings

More than 100 parcels of land will be affected by this project. Currently the NCDOT has set aside $3,100,000 for right-of-way takings. If your property will be affected, contact one of our attorneys for a free case evaluation, or call 1-877-393-4990.

There are only a handful of attorneys in NC who practice eminent domain exclusively, and even fewer with NCDOT experience. We have several. That’s why its worth getting in touch with us for a free case evaluation.

Here’s how it works:

1) Tell us about your situation.

2) We research your property as needed, using DOT maps, our own technology, and experience to see the exact effects.

3) We let you know what we think a fair offer would be. This evaluation is free, and there’s no
pressure or obligation to hire us after.

But please don’t wait to act. Waiting can hurt your case, and the cost is the same: free.
