NC-46 Widening in Northampton County

Fast Facts

NCDOT TIP # R-5739
Project Type:
 Road widening
Affected Counties:
 Northampton
Estimated Cost: $
24,285,000

Description

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will be upgrading Highway 46 beginning from NC 48 in Gaston up to the Virginia State Line. The NCDOT is also planning on realigning the intersections of NC 46 with River Road and with Oak Grove Church Road as a part of the project.

This portion of NC 46 is expected to be resurfaced and widened to 12ft lanes by adding 4-ft paved shoulders and 2-ft earthen shoulders. Vegetation and aging culverts in some intersections will either be removed completely or replaced to allow more sight distance for drivers. The project will also add left-turn lanes in multiple areas of the route to alleviate traffic congestion near Gaston schools as well as extending the turn lane at the River Road intersection.

The project aims to improve traffic flow and safety on NC 46. However, the road widening construction is projected to affect many surrounding properties and may force some residents to relocate. If you are negatively impacted by NCDOT’s road project, we urge you to contact the NC Eminent Domain Law Firm.

Property Takings

It is estimated that more than 200 parcels of property will be impacted by this project. Currently the NCDOT has set aside $100,00 for right-of-way takings. If your property will be affected, contact one of our attorneys (four of whom previously worked on behalf of the NCDOT) for a free case evaluation.

There are only a handful of attorneys in NC who practice eminent domain exclusively, and even fewer with NCDOT experience. We have several. That’s why its worth getting in touch with us for a free case evaluation.

Here’s how it works:

1) Tell us about your situation.

2) We research your property as needed, using DOT maps, our own technology, and experience to see the exact effects.

3) We let you know what we think a fair offer would be. This evaluation is free, and there’s no
pressure or obligation to hire us after.

But please don’t wait to act. Waiting can hurt your case, and the cost is the same: free.
