The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) plans to construct interchange ramps at I-95 and Sunset Avenue in Rocky Mount. In addition to new ramps, Sunset Avenue will be widened to four lanes with a median between Old Carriage and Halifax Roads.
The purpose of the project is to provide better access onto I-95 for the Rocky Mount area and to accommodate the city’s increasing economic development.

It is estimated that more than 30 parcels of property will be impacted by this project. Currently, the NCDOT has set aside $18,336,000 for right-of-way takings.
