Old Carriage Road Widening

Fast Facts

NCDOT TIP # U-5996
Project Type:
 Road widening
Affected Counties:
 Nash
Estimated Cost: $
 28,390,000

Description

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) plans to widen Old Carriage Road to two lanes of travel in each direction from just north of Eastern Avenue & Sunset Avenue to its intersection with Green Hills Road & Reges Store Road. The project also includes constructing roundabouts at the southern entrance to Nash County Community College, the US 64 interchange, and the Green Hills Road & Reges Store Road intersection.

Additionally the NCDOT intends to impose control of access across some portions of Old Carriage Road, which means those property owners may see their direct access to Old Carriage Road limited or outright eliminated as deemed necessary by the NCDOT.

The purpose of the project is to provide better access onto US-64 & I-95 for the Rocky Mount area and to accommodate the city’s increasing economic development. These improvements will tie into two additional NCDOT projects expected to move forward in the near future: the widening of Eastern Avenue from Red Oak Road to Old Carriage Road, the widening of Sunset Avenue & I-95 interchange improvements.

Schedule

Property Takings

Currently, the NCDOT has set aside $3,609,000 for right-of-way takings on this project. If your property will be affected, contact one of our attorneys (four of whom previously worked on behalf of the NCDOT) for a free case evaluation.

There are only a handful of attorneys in NC who practice eminent domain exclusively, and even fewer with NCDOT experience. We have several. That’s why its worth getting in touch with us for a free case evaluation.

Here’s how it works:

1) Tell us about your situation.

2) We research your property as needed, using DOT maps, our own technology, and experience to see the exact effects.

3) We let you know what we think a fair offer would be. This evaluation is free, and there’s no
pressure or obligation to hire us after.

But please don’t wait to act. Waiting can hurt your case, and the cost is the same: free.
