US 401 (Raeford Road) Roadway Improvements
Fast Facts
NCDOT TIP # U-4405A/B
Project Type: Improvements
Affected Counties: Cumberland
Estimated Cost: $46,840,000
Description
The NCDOT plans roadway improvements to a 5.8-mile stretch of US 401 (Raeford Road) from west of Hampton Oaks Drive to east of Fairway Drive in Fayetteville.
Improvements include road widening, and resurfacing with a raised median, and are deemed necessary to help improve traffic flow and safety.
As Fayetteville has grown, increased traffic volumes have created congestion. Moreover, access onto and from this section of US 401 has become a safety and nuisance issue, as numerous driveways along the corridor hinder both mobility and traffic safety.
